Title: Hi all from NZ
Post by: bsting on 31 December 2006, 07:46
Hi vagnuts

Greetings from sunny New Zealand   The mk3s are my everyday drivers/projects

Any mk1 scirocco fans out there? I had one for 8 years (dark met blue 77 1.6 4spd gls) and kick myself everyday for selling it
We have a good healthy active hardcore vag scene in little old NZ...come and say hi sometime

www.vask.org.nz

Happy new years!!!

I always loved the mk1 rocco and tryed to buy one a good one a couple of years ago but over hear there like chicken lips and rocking horse s**t. I saw one a few months back in one of the vw mags with the 1.8T conversion putting out 200+bhp looked well smart........

Cheers guys

We try our best to wave the vag flag high in NZ. We dont have alot of the 'ill just drive down the road and pick up some parts from the tuning shop' like you guys can do in the UK & Europe, the market here is a bit small, NZ pop is only 4.1million.

And shipping stuff over from there and South Africa/US can be a killer....I have used SWG motorsport from the UK in the past.

We just make do with what we have or make stuff ourselves and scrounge at the wreckers, we do have a good knowledge base here of mates who have been into vagcars for years. NZ is a small place and if you have a problem there is always someone or someone who knows someone who will help you

On the plus side there are some very cool sealed quiet twisty roads that our club like to cruise on (with not many cops) we kiwis always goto the beach anyway, we just take the long way to get there (about 300-400kms round trip in one day)

The next round of the A1GP will be staged in Taupo (central north island) the Taupo track has recently had a big upgrade to it, maybe some of you will be watching this on TV? The Taupo track is central for most of our members and we do use it for trackdays.

Nice to feel welcome, truly

Ps some of the cars we have here....there might be more out there but we havent met them yet

VW 15 mk1 gtis, 1 mk1 gti with 1.8t in it, 1 mk1 gti g60, mk2s all models apart from the rallye and g60, 1 mk2 vr6t with syncro, mk3s most models except the 2.9 syncro, mk4 gtis/r32, mk5 gtis/r32, 12 16v Corrados, 3 vr6s, 2 g60s, 1 mk1 scirocco TS  3 mk2 sciroccos 1 with a ford blower in it.

Yeh thanks for the offer of that maty  most of our guys travel a bit and if they have space in their luggage they will pick stuff up for us. Just to compare prices....some other mates (got a lot of mates ) work for the local vw/audi importers here, so we get new parts at trade price.
Genuine vag oil filter for the mk3 8v & 16v is $13nz approx 4.30gbp, is that good?
Will post up some pics soon. Both cars are sorta in bits as im trying to sort out a few issues with them at the moment.

I really like this bergcup 16v scirocco

Thanks mate

The blue mk1 G60 was on the cover of PVW mag in 1997, it was in the UK then, was imported to NZ and lives in Christchurch.
Im not in touch with the current owner, but as i understand it is still in good nick, and is used for the odd trackday
Sorry i have no more pics of it.

The previous owner (in nz) said it was his daily driver for two years and it had the heaviest clutch he has ever felt.
But it goes like stink!!!

We are soooo lucky to have it here, in the G60s we only have 2 others both Corrados.

NZ is a small place and we treasure what hot rare VW/Audi cars we have.
