i've just bought a mk 4 golf. unfortunately it comes with the awful black rubbing strips across the bumpers and doors. is there anyway i can change these to match the colour of the car? or do i have to spray them?any help much appreciated....

Would have thought you could spray them up (if you use a grippy primer), but might be a bit fiddly to do them all. If the colour of your car is a popular one, you might want to call a few breakers to see if they have one in you could pinch them off (but then again guess they would like to sell the doors/bumpers etc with them on, but you might be lucky. Mine are colour coded (1.8T) but I'm sure someone else on here will be able to let you know which other models have them coded already.
Cheers

If i was you i woul be brave and take the bump stips out of the bumper, then get a good bodyshop to smooth the recess into the bumper, have seen it done on a Euro site and it looks the tits. Worth a thought. If not try a VW garage, they may offer to spray them for you. The only reason i say this is because my mate has a 206cc, his one has black rubing strips, but the new 2003 model has colour coded ones, he is getting his updated by peugeot who offered to do it all for ?200, that is the one in Canterbury, again worth a shot
