Mornin all
I am wondering what is the best oil to use in my 86 8v golf...? Gonna have a go at changing it myself..... :o
-
10w30 or 15w40 will be fine
the sump bolt is a 17mm, make sure you get a new copper sump washer when you get your oil filter from VAG
-
Cheers, any particular brand I should go for????
-
get Silver Synta from VAG, semi-synthetic, cheap and perfect for your car
-
get synta gold or silver
the sump bolt is a 19mm ::)
-
if you can get hold of vavoline maxlife then get this its the most amasing oil ever!
the vr6 had a oil leak coming as there was oil spots apearing on the drive and i needed to top the oil up so 500ml went in and the oil leaks stopped ;D
its due for an oil change ive got some maxlife ready to go in it!!! my gti is on 196000 miles now i ve got this oil i wont use anything else!
-
do you work for valvoline? :D
-
A lot of recent VW filters I have bought have had a new copper washer in the bottom of the box.
And it is 19mm
-
no one recommending non VW oil then, such as that fancy Mobile Magnatex or what ever? or is the VAG stuff just really cheap?
-
I change mine for Castrol Magnatec every 6000.
I dont think its worked wonders but the advert has made me feel better about doing my short commute to work :-\
Is there much better stuff out there I should be using??.....or is it fine to stick with the Magnatec??
-
I havent checked out the price from VAG yet.....Polo is going in for some problem solving in Feb....will ask then :)
