Hello,
Any ideas out ther that may help my 16v.
I have noticed that my steering is feeling floaty and really vague. It doesnt feel sharp anymore and seems to feel unresponsive as if somethings not right. There is a bit of movement when gripping the wheel and shaking steering wheel but it feels more than that as if something is worn or broken. At first i thought it was only under braking and have replaced discs pads, but now realise it is all the time.
The shocks seem ok and the tracking is spot on as are tyre pressures and the tyres are in good nick.
As always, any help is really appreciated.

How do you know the tracking is spot on? Have you had it checked?
Id get under and have a good look. Checking and pulling on everything. Its most likely to be bushes. Probably the wishbone ones.

Always worth checking the easiest things 1st. Wheels balanced correctly?

I had the tracking checked proffesionaly and all was ok. I'll have to get underneath if it ever stops raining and look for anything obvious.
-
On another note, any ideas wheres I can be losing oil, no mayonaise anywhere and no bad smoke, but am using a lot. There are no obvious leaks in the engine bay that I can see.
-
sounds like greasy roads to me, typical at this time of year
-
have you changed the shocks recently? , also is it pas steering?.

Check that your tyres havnt gone egg shaped! by jacking up the car, and spinning the wheels..
Is your power steering belt slipping, causing the pump to work intermitently.. going through puddles shows up this fault! water on the belt causes it to slip!
shockers and antiroll bar bushes, should also be in a proper condition, and be sure to check your tyre pressures

Thanks,
It does have PAS and I have noticed it freaks out in big puddles, I'll get the belt replaced and see what effect that has, the shocks are fairly recent so should be ok,am hoping to upgrade the suspension soon so will eliminate that, mounts etc could be a different story, so i'll check them out.
I hope the steering racks ok.
The tyres are new Pirelli P6000's all round so can't be them. I reckon the PAS could be a cause,
thanks for the tips, all suggestions gratefully recieved.
