Title: light problem????

hi guys. just pickup up a golf mk2 driver(1.6) for £20.

its going to be a ring toy for next year. its a great car but i have a problem with the lights.

the main beam doesnt work with the switch. only the parking lights are on, but when i flick the full beam on from the stalk the headlights then come on, along with the inner lights.

once the full beam is off, its back to the parking lights again. im an bmw e30 man myself, so i no nothing about the golf. :sad:

check the bulbs arent single fillement . both spots and normals have high/full beam , but if theres only two connectors on the back of the main headlight bulbs (the big round ones) then there the wrong ones , ya need 3 metal touch contacts on those.

Both headlamp bulbs gone on dipped beam!

if the inner spots come on, then the main beam is working correctly (the spots use the same feed as the outer lights)  It sounds like the dipped beam has gone on both bulbs as thom says!  There is a fuse for each side too, so worth checking that as well.
