Title: Car became a boat for a short while!!!

went out yest and it was pissing it down. Didnt see this massive puddle more like a lake and got that sinking feeling when the car coughed spluttered and died noooooooo!!!!! Only people who stopped were asking me the best way through the lake and im thinkin IF I F**KIN KNEW THAT I WOULDN BLOODY BE HERE!!! after half an hour stranded i hear this voice "no f**kin worries mate youll be out in no time" and this loon in a mk 4 starts pushing my car through the puddle. Once on terra firma we eventually get the car started and its running like an absolute pig, gets it warmed up and seems ok so thank the guy profusely and bugger off. On the way home jus drivin along the engine loses all power and im thinkin f**kin hell was meant to be out havin dinner with the family. Ditched the car and walked home still pissin it down got changed got out. an hour latter just as were finishin at the restaurant i get a phone call from the guy that helped me earlier sayin hes stood by the car cos where its parked its likely to get stripped or impounded (english plates are never a good thing over here). I get back as quick as poss and sure enough hes stood there and has just chatted to some policia nacional who were wanting to impound it but he managed to get them to bugger off and leave it by being all friendly towards them. We finally get the car started but again missing coughing splutterin dying get the car home then the guy (jabba) invites me back to him and his birds place and fills me with bacardi coke till 5am. I just wanted to say thanks to a f**kin cool guy and after last night a bloody good m8 good to see that humanity isnt all doom gloom and cnuts.

Normally when the car dies after going through water its because it has gone into the dizzy cap. Happened to me once in a Pug 1.9 GTI. Clean it up and should be sorted, unless you have already fixed at which point back to point a above  :laugh:

yea I know but i think that was why it was running like a pig unfortunately we had no wd 40 cos thats supposed to be the best thing for it apparently. and there were sparks flying out of the dizzy cap when the car was running which didnt seem very safe. Ran the car shortly today and seems fine not driven anywhere yt tho.

now the bloody things idleing really poorly and theres sparks shooting off the dizzy cap out of one of the leads. wat are these leads called? so when im in the garage i can sound like i know wat im talking about.

take the dizzy cap off anf clean it also do the same with the HT leads and ensure no water is sitting round anything.

Should be ok then,
