whats the difference between a mk1 gti cabrio and a mk1 gti black cabrio?
i found this problem when looking for insurance, i have a B reg 1985 gti cab. yes the colour of the vehcile is black, graphite metallic i think paint code available. I know the car is not a Rivage, or sportline nor is it the CC christmas edition, nor the triple white...
hope someone can enlighten me and thatyou know what i mean! if you need any more inf i can try and help! :)

I just had a look on our system at work for you Han and it actually seperatly lists a VW golf GTi Black Cabr made on a 1985, dunno if this was a special edition or summat then? It came out as a grp 39 (out of 50) on our system which is actually lower than a if i just choose a normal VW golf gti cabr on a 1985 (grp 43!)!
That may have slightly affected the quote we gave you cos i just rated it as the normal one.....

thanks diane! martin, yeah hats how i realised there were more than one gti cab... hmmmm

I believe the "Black" GTI was a special edition just like the Michael Barrymore special edition (All White ! ) I don't think I've ever seen one though but they were, as the name suggests, all black. :nerd:
-
thats what i thought gibby.. know anything else? how would i know if mine is/was or not? it seems that it could be.. but either way i'm still happy i got my cab.
-
Is the car all black ? If not then it's not, if yes, then maybe, but I'd have thought that it would say it on your V5 if it was as my cab actually says it's a Rivage on the docs.
-
my docs dont even say gti... they are very vague.
its anything but original my car.. but i want to sort that out!

where can i enter the vin number to find out?
-
There are 4 main locations*:
dashboard, driver's side
below the driver's door strike pin
on the firewall, passenger side, below the black plastic rain tray (NOTE: 5 digits of this VIN location are Z's)
on the sticker inside the trunk
*1987 to 1993 Cabriolets also have VIN stickers on the underside of their hoods and trunk lids in addition to the above listed locations.

Yeah strange isnt it? I guess it may be something to do with claim statistics or something?? (rarer version of the same car hence fewer claims??)
Dunno really, just guessing?? :undecided:
-
I just put the details on here:
https://www.hpicheck.com/consumer/?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=&B1=Vehicle+Reg+Number+Search
and it came up Volkswagen, the CC and year and gave no details on the model like usual which is strange.
Its not an import or something is it?
-
it doesnt say much on my logbook. dont think its an import. how would i know? V5 doesnt even say GTI
sh!t sh!t sh!t sh!t.. now im panicking...
-
Dont worry about it
All the numbers match right ?
then its your black cab , Han edition
