Hi all,
Was hoping someone could give me some advice on buying an imported car. I'm pretty much ready to order myself a Golf R32 and want to do it through a company called Select Automotive Ltd , not sure if anyones heard of them, they seem pretty good.
Could tell me if I should watch out for anything? They said that it will be to Full UK spec, 1st registered in the UK etc. Will be ordering it to my spec so I can get it delivered for 1st of March on 07 plates.
Is there something that I'm not thinking of that an imported RHD R32 is not going to have ?
All advise is usefull :D
Thanks in advance
Chris

The first thing I would think of is the sealant, as in, is it going to be properly undersealed (underneath & arches etc) so that it doesn't fall apart after one salty winter over here ?

Hey,
Cheers for the reply. Would they use different sealent? Are they not made in the same factory and same way if i was to order it from a VW Dealer in the UK ?
Got me worried how, hehe.

I'm not sure what they do but I'd just look into it more, but if we use Jap cars as an example, whereby an MR2 made in Japan and used in Japan would not need to be undersealed as much as one that was made in the UK that's why people are a bit more wary of the imported Jap cars (as well as the fact that they might have been smashed in Japan  ).

Ah ok, I getcha :D
Ill make sure I ask the supplier.
Cheers for that.
Anything else I should be looking out for?

Not that I can think of but I'm no expert. I guess just enjoy a cheaper bought car with a good spec.

Hehe, cant wait :D
Saving myself £4,300 :D Got to wait till March tho because I want 07 plate! Damnit!
Cheers

You wouldn't have got it much sooner than then anyway.
Stick around and keep us informed about progress. It would be interesting to see what your experience of importing a car is and if it is worth that extra bit of hassle to make such a huge saving.
Come on the, make us all jealous and give us a full run down of the spec you've ordered.

I agree about the sunroof, but if I could afford it I'd have gone for the Recaros.

Maybe if it's a long distance cruiser then the stock seats will be a good choice then. :afro:
I'm getting kinda jealous now talking about it.

Someone said to me the buckets were more comfortable even on long jouneys but not sure. Cant really test without taking both versions of the r32 out for a good day, hehe.
