Title: What are Coilovers????

Hi Guys, can anyone explain to me what the difference is between Coilovers and suspension kits :undecided:
I am going round in circles as i don't know what to get for my 97 P Mk3 8V :undecided:
I am aware the Coilovers are better going by the price, but does the price warrent the difference in performance????
Please help as i am getting quite dizzy going round in circles :cry:

coilovers basically allow you to adjust both the ride height and the hardness of the damping where as normal suspension kits are set at one particular stiffness, usuall 30% uprated, and the ride height is determined by what springs come with it. This comes at a cost though, some kits can cost around the £600 mark

so it depends on what you want, if you want to simply improve the handling then a decent suspension kit would do the job where as if you want to fettle with both the ride height and damping to suit your mood then coilovers.

Is there any make of Suspension Kits that you recommend and have good reports????
I live up in Aberdeen and the only place i know of that sell them is my local Halfords..."numptys"
Is there anywhere that you can recommend and what i could get for about £250.

check out www.venommotorsport.com and have a look at their suspension kits. Have sets to suit most budgets. Personally I cannot recommend any in particular but they are pretty helpful people at venom so might be worth giving them a bell and see what the recommend.

i bought a set of brand new jamex coilovers for £340 its around the going price in staffordshire, try my site sponsors www.rennsport.co.uk speak to dan he will sort you out ;) i highly recomend jamex! havnt had a problem with them what so ever and they come with 2 years guaruntee where before i was on standard shocks the rear kept breaking every 2 months! had about 6 sets altogether.....

The term coilovers means the springs are attached to the shock absorbers and form an integral unit. As aconsequence a threaded section on the body of the shock to allow movement of the top mount of the spring. Therefore giving flexibility of ride height.

As for makes - well pays yer money and takes your choice! Most consider Bilstein or Koni's best, but they are expensive. Weitec are considered good by some or Spax. Personally i dont know about jamex.
