Don't know about the trade-in value of your GTI though my dealer and others have told me that options don't count for too much come trade-in time...
As for the R32 fuel consumption is noticeably higher - i'd say I put in 1/3 more fuel per week although the car is new so this may settle down. My insurance has also gone up by about 1/3 from £60 odd a month to around £90 something.

I have to say though that the R32 is an AWESOME car and sounds so much better than the GTI. Also makes the GTI look like a little boys car. It has to be combined with the DSG box too - goes like stink. If I had the money, I would get a black one, fit a R-GTI front end with carbon bonnet and supercharge the thing     But the Edition 30 is arriving in March and that will get the R-GTI treatment although all mods will be reversible as I am a bit of a stickler for standard cars too. I was planning to sell the R32 when the Edition 30 arrived but I am so besotted by the car that its not going to happen - I will be keeping the R32 until next September when I will either buy a Mk2 16v as a daily driver or buy another R32 or even a new Scirocco if they are out. If I get a new car though it will have to be DSG. The Edition 30 is the last new car I am buying with a manual box.
