what would be best for me to buy? i have been to see both a Mk4 1.8t and a 4-motion. The turbo has alloys, tints, and it is lowered, 4 motion is standard. I was planning to remap the turbo, but when i declare that on my insurance it is almost as expensive as the 4 motion  . So what would be a better buy? a remaped and tastefully modified turbo or a standard 4-motion? would the 4-motion still be faster than a remapped t? cheers

difficult one to answer.
the 1.8T is easily far more tunable than the V6; certainly cheaper. Although you could add a supercharger to the 4-motion
1.8T is also cheaper to run and more economical but then the 4-motion will have the V6 sound.......
best thing to do is to drive both to see what you like and go from there. I haven't driven either so can't really comment.

the 1.8 T does have more scope for further tuning, could easily achieve 300bhp+ from a 1.8 T but then again should you decide to buy and tune the V6 it does have 4wd too so would be able to cope with more power. its a catch 22 situation.
I would imagine that a remapped 1.8t would be faster than a normal V6 4motion as the 4wheel drive system would weigh it down a tad as well as there being more power available from a a remap.
have a look at this website:
http://www.revotechnik.com/products/softwareProduct.aspx?pvID=170 to see the power increases and prices etc and also as Rhyso said, test drive them both to see which you prefer.
