I've just noticed trying to find the vacuum hose for the MFA MPG reading that one of the hoses on my throttle bottle has been blocked with a screw !!!
The one that's connected to the Fuel pressue regulator is fine it's the one next to it - where the hell should it go ??
And I still can't find the vacuum hose for the MFA - where's it connect on the engine ??
I know this probably has been posted a few times but please help !!!!! ???

you have a mk 2 gti..... the mfa is connected on the brake servo hose whichs connects to the right side of the inlet manifold! the mfa tube connects on this
normaly the little plastic pipe which is slid onto snapps off but you sould see another little pipe next to it with a green cap on use this and then tape up the other hole......
as for the tube with the screw in you have a screw in this because you have a k&n filter (this tube did go to the air box) you can either leave it or by a little rubber cap! if you do this you wont need this pipe.....
mine has a rubber cap on as this pipe which runs to the air box was joined by a t connector to the fuel pressure reg pipe!!!!!!! ;) ;) :) ;D
happy now...... ;D

Cheers for the reply but that's not the right hose ...
I had the bolt on the suspension turit snap off over the weekend, so the old air box has gone back on for now. The throtttle body has two small hoses that come off at the front, one goes to the servo you describe, then on to the air box - that system is all complete - there's a second pipe next to it that's the problem. Aslo I have noticed there's another one that's been blocked on the rear on the throttle body !!
I'll post some pictures if I can as it's not easy to desribe ...

pic from BlueMk2 ;)

Cheers Gambit - the front pipe is just to the right of the oil breather pipe behind the ISV and you can't see the second hose - but it's just behind the full throttle sensor ...
Shame I can't trace the pipe from this pic but u can't see them !!!!
-
trace the accelorator cable in the pic, follow it back to that round shaped cream colour thing (right side)
Im sure there was a hose around there. my car is not with me at the moment so..... :-\....... :P

Blue MK2 - if you could have a look when you got some free time ( and the car ! ) it would be most apprieciated ...
I think your talking about the vacuum pipe for the MFA - that's connected to the section of pipe off the Inlet manifold you described.
Cheers for all your efforts guys !!!
-
sure mate. ill have a look when its back, 5pm if thats not too late
-
Cheers matey - that would be great - i'll get the picture out the Haynes manual that should the pipes so u can find them - why it shows them but doesn't label them god only knows !!!

nice one .... just got to find out what the hell it is now ??? ??? ??? ???
-
doesnt it say on the side of the diagram?
-
Yeah - it calls it "VACUUM SYSTEM ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER SYSTEM"
But no mention of it on my Haynes manual / Online Bentley manual / or any trace of it under my bonnet or yours by the looks of things !!
I don't have any running troubles but VW put it thtere for a reason I guess !!
-
your also missing 15 then? ???
-
Yeah !!! basically everything part no. 15 & 16 connects to is nowhere to be found !
-
David, you have mail :)
-
You got mail too ;)
-
you have more, with more pics! :P
-
is that all not to do with the Overrun Cut-Off valve?
-
Well blue just checked his car and his are blocked up too ... it's supposed to be some sort of carbon filter from the web page that diagram is taken from ?!?!?
Calling all mkII 8v owners - have a look...
Bit lame of VW to sell their cars with things blocked up - shame on them !!
(unless this is just a coincidence ???)
-
I dont think you need to worry about the missing parts. as long as you have 2 blocked pipes, one in the front and the other behind the intake.
both items 22 in the pic
should be fine :)
Gambit is yours the same?
