Title: Hunting idle

My mates mk3 2.0 8v has developed a hunting idle. With an 8v id usually start by cleaning the isv but can actually see one on this motor. Then id change the infamous blue coolant sensor but again i cant see one. What do you recoment.

I also spotted one of them awfull air temp/mass meter resistor things. Maybe i best bin this. Its plugged into the sensor on the front side of the airbox.

Bin the resistor, on a MK3 the ECU sensor is not blue, its a 4 pin jobber that also does the temp guage :)

Clean out the throttle body, and check the oil breather hoses arn't clogged up.  If its got an idle switch, make sure it clicks just as the throttle closes :)

yeah check all the breather pipes and throttle body. the 8v hasnt got an isv. had a similar problem in the summer after i serviced it. i changed the leads, plugs, coolant sensor and temp sensor. in the end i got the old plugs gave them a proper clean fitted them back in and the car was fine, perfect idling again.
