Title: De Restricting R32
Post by: micalee on 07 December 2006, 21:38
i read that the top speed of the MK5 R32 is electronically controlled. Is it therefore possible to de-restrict it?

why on earth would u want to increase the top speed over 150mph, at faster speeds the cars aerodynamics will go out the window, british airways comes to mind!!!!, dont risk your neck mate!

The R32 can go up to 155+ miles, however there is not much pull at the speed.

The best company is BMW, my brother had his M5 derestricted by BMW. He had to go on the race track for a weekend in Germany, with there drivers.  Once they felt he was safe, they unrestricted his vehicle for free.  Safe to say it goes well above 155mph.

R32, is still comfortable to drive at 155mph, noice is fairly loud, just turn music up, road noise comes through a lot more.  Just watch out for German drivers, they dont like to indicate often, also they wont wait for you to move of the lane.  They will be up your backside in no time.

Good advice thanks. I have noticed straight away that german drivers dont drive proactively at all.

Autocar or Performance VW - can't remember which - took the R32 to 167mph
