Title: Interior light problem!
Post by: Scooterist007 on 07 December 2006, 21:19
Hi folks
I have a problem with the interior light on my '95 gti 16v, when its on the auto position ie turns on when the doors are opened. It doesnt turn itself off after the delay period, it does turn off when the ignition is switched on, so it cant be the door switches as the light would go out even if the ignition was on! this is a annoying problem as I have to leave the auto turned off and as i work nights its a pain in the rear! also it doesnt do it all the time, it will happen for so long then one day it will be normal for so long etc, I have a standard vw alarm system.

also another annoying problem reguarding the alarm system, if I lock the car using the alrm fob, and then unlock within a short period of time eg going to the shop, lock car with fob, then realise you left wallet on seat so unlock via fob..... The three of my windows (5 door all electric windows) go down about quarter of the way! which is so annoying as it means i then have to put keys in ignition and close all windows!

hope someone can help!

sounds like you have a faulty door lock but first pull back wiring sleve on door jams you probably have a broken wire on one of your doors

ok I will look, just seems strange that when I open the door, the light goes on, but doesnt turn off, unless i turn the ignition on, I'm just wondering about the timer circuit, like where is i lol, but I will look to see if there is a broken wire, but somthing says to me that this isnt the problem!
