Title: Driving in France
Post by: Volksie on 07 December 2006, 17:56
Having just bought an ex-demo 06 3 Door GTI - My First Golf & VW - Very Happy!!

Two questions:

1. Can you get beam deflectors for the MKV as there does not appear to be the usual patterns on the headlight.

2. Two inherited cosmetic issues.
 - There is a pin size dent on the drivers door interior aluminum strip
 - There is a small chip on the corner of the door trim as you leave the rear of the car (same texture as dash)

Can these be repaired as VW have quoted £400.00 to replace the rear trim and I would hate to guess what the front trim would cost?

Thanks

Hi not sure about driving abroad but in answer to 1+2 a company like dent wizard, flying colours, chips away etc should be able to help you out.

Hi

You would have to purchase plastic headlamp protectors and then add the beam deflectors to it. The only place to buy them is from a VW dealer. I would advise not to stick the deflectors directly to the headlamp as it will probably melt!!!!!!!

Hope this helps

Don't kinow about the Golf byt my old man's Audi with non xenon headlights has a converter lever on the rear of the light housings. Just have to remove the rear casing. Check the hand book for clues.
