Title: Problem removing battery - 96 8v
Post by: alanb on 01 December 2006, 22:11
Hi, got a '96 8v fitted with the factory Conlog alarm. Problem is, every time I attempt to remove the car battery to do work on the car, the bl**dy alarm goes off, and it won't stop unless I reconnect the battery and disarm with the keyfob.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to get around this. It has been a problem since I bought the car nearly a year ago, and it's driving me nuts.
Only thing i've managed to do is to run the battery flat with a bulb before disconnecting it, but there HAS to be an easier way.

my conlog alarm has a lock on the alarm which turn`s off the siren maybe you could try that.
if your alarm is the same as mine and you still got the key.

Go to halfords, and buy/borrow memory saver. It keeps a circuit in the car which maintains the alarm and everything else's power source for the amount of time it takes to change an battery.

Surely you have an alarm disable somewhere in the car?
