is it an 8v?

Get your air/petrol mixture sorted at a garage. your car could be running too lean.

Need more than a heavy foot to use that much fuel. Hows the car running?

Its an 8V
The car is running okish but I have just found out my battery is knackered.
Not sure if that would be a reason for ful probs tho.

IMHO Short journeys = bad economy due to to much stopping and starting and cold engine.

There's a solution for you in Halfords

go in avoid all the car stuff and go to the bike section,
buy a bike, this will really help your fuel economy ;)

Sorry, no better advice.
