Title: Issues with....
Post by: Agreeable Slick on 27 November 2006, 20:16
my alternator on the audi.

I have a serious issue with floppy belt syndrome, just wondering if anyone can divuldge any useful hints about releasing the alternator and tightening the belt back up, as from the top it looks like it is mounted in it's own bracket and i am fooked if i can find the adjusting arm, that you would expect to find. I am confused.

It's an 80, but not a petrol so all the boost pipes are in the way, and rad pipes seem to snake around the front of it, so i cannot see much. I looked at a couple of 80 petrols and they are all simple to get off, this one just looks like a pain in the arse. Nabbed a alternator off a vento tdi just in case. Why can they not all be as simple as that, took me all of 5 mins to get that one off.
