went to view it at £1295 with new cambelt, waterpump, full service (receipt for £150 parts) mot's and tax back to 1999/2000

knew it wasnt mint bodywork wise (few spots of bubble rust, and manly scratches), but itll do for now!

VERY nice han

sure ya lovin the roof down winter effect
Title: Re: £850 later...
Post by: [han] on 28 November 2006, 07:43
mechanically its sound, with recent clutch, cambelt, water pump, fuel filler neck.

bad points, bit grubby - needs hoovering, no heater matrix but its booked in for one! (been removed in the past but pipes are connected to each other so no leaks!
and i have a slight fuel leak when i brim the tank, s that cud be the over flow!

tbh its a bargain!

Title: Re: £850 later...
Post by: gibby on 28 November 2006, 08:54
Does look like a bargain. I doubt the fuel leak is the overflow because as far as I know, there isn't one. I've always been able to fill mine to the very top with the old filler neck and the new one. If it's when you brim it then I'd get them to check the fuel filler neck. Do you know if they put on a cab filler neck or have they used a tintop one and had to clip it together as they are different sizes ?

who did the negotiating?
Title: Re: £850 later...
Post by: kniterider on 28 November 2006, 19:08
looks better than i imagined...... get that filler neck/fuel tank prob sorted, on 1 of my old mk1's i fitted a new filler neck and it still leaked when over half full.... tank was rotten....., also id make sure all is watertight espesh round the fusebox/windscreen area otherwise you will get eleccy probs in the winter months....

looks good though, just hope its as reliable etc as what your expecting it to be...
