Title: Help! mp3 adaptor probs
Post by: clum1 on 25 November 2006, 13:54
I've bought a Connects2 CTVVGX004 to connect my mp3 player to the stereo in my Mk5.  It's the standard stereo (one-disk CD player) and I've got as far as connecting it in to the backk of the unit - using the excellent car kit instructions above for help.

A far as I can tell, it's all in correctly but when I switch the stereo on there's no way of getting any sound out from this aux port.  Anyone any ideas how I get it to work?

I haven't got everything back in the dash yet and haven't connected the earth lead - could this be it? If so, where should I connect the earth lead to?

thanks for your help,

Calum

Sorted; needs the earth lead connected (wrapped it around a screw on the back of the head unit) before it works.  Thanks to the chap on the end of the phone at RaySmith.co.uk who also told me how to get it to "appear" to the stereo - just press the CD button twice.

That's me sorted; farewell to tape adaptors, FM transmitters etc; I've managed to feed the lead out through a join in the trim panels between dash and main tunnel and it allows my Archos AV440 to sit up lovely in the ashtray; I can now sit and watch movies, sound through the stereo whilst I wait for the Mrs to do her Christmas shopping!
