you know that plug that fills the hole for a left hand drive wiper its the one on the left... any idea how to get it out? im respraying the car this week and its the onmlt bit of rust i cant get close to.
-
I think you need to undo the wiper linkage and pop out the centre from underneath or something?
-
Just been and looked at mine,, one of the last parts I havnt stripped off yet!
the plug appears to be in 2 parts, ie, top part pushes into bottom part to spread the retaining legs that hold it in the hole.. to remove, this could be tricky without damaging the plug.. feed a small screwdiver into the "top" cap, and gently prize upwards, the cap should come away, extracting the integral rivet pin at the same time.. shoot some WD40 into the gap to help things along, once the top is off, the bottom should easily flick out with a screwdriver. Too bloody cold in my garage to remove mine, so this is just an educated guess

thanks for the replys guys. the top is seperate from the bottom part. i went and snapped mine with a screw driver. seems like a pair of grips on the top and undo would do the trick. think i my just get it out the best i can and french it. nice subtle mod to the car at the same time.

for future refrence the top cap unscrews and the cap under that pulls out and then a rubber seal under that pops out.
-
so any of you who remvoed this.. im getitng mien done, a palte welded in and then smoothed over tos top the rust.. but, how do you keep the wiper mech udnerneath under control, i read that the arm udner there eneds to be secured or the wipers go flapping
-
i didnt do a thing just took out the plug and filled the hole. bear in mind its tough area to rub down with the screen in place.
-
quality, im sure the guy who's doing it would have done it before i was jsut pondering on it
when removing and replacing a windscreen is it adviable to change the seal or is it a case of it aint broke dont fix it
-
if the screen looks in good nick you should be able to re-use it, but normally they look a bit tired so swap it for a nice shiny looking one
Edit: Oh and if you want to get your screen out in 1 piece you'll have to cut the seal. otherwise it'll probably crack!

i looked at that T-Cut glas spolish to lvien mine up a bit, and thn jsut keep clean with your normal blue window cleany stuff.. but anyway
ahh, a price on a seal perchance? and ease of fitting, im thinking if he plans on tkaing the bloody tihng out, then i best get a seal ready for when he does, so nothings forgotten!
