Post by: bhpamz on 22 November 2006, 12:55
hi guys im really confused here i have put in my vw golf mk4 1.4 16v, a sony explod amp and a jbl sub and i have wired it all up with a 4 gauge wiring kit now heres whats confusing me:

(1)even if i take off the sterio and take out the keys the amp light stays on

the other thing is:

(2)i have earthed it but i dont think its a good place because the red light on the amp keeps coming on
any ideas were i can earth it becuase i'v earthed it in the boot on the left hand side were the first aid kit goes theres a hole there and i jus got a screw and a bolt and put the earth through the screw and bolted it on.

please help me guys im really confused :(
oh and has it got anything to do with my sterio being a staright conection to the live aswell? i mean from my point of view i dont think it has got anything to do with the sterio? but i could be wrong

Wow you need a response in 10 mins!

1 - is the stereo itself wired to be permanently on? If there is no switched live to it then I am not sure it will switch off the remote turn on for the amp.

2 - what is the red light for though? might not be anything to do with an earth, it could be that you are driving the amp too hard?

:)

Check the remote cable. This is possibly the cause of it all. If there is a permenant feed to this then this will explain it.

The power light should go off when the ignition is turned off.

what i'v done with the remote wire is that i'v conected it to the 2 blue remote wires and my sterio is a straight live connection even if i take the keys out and switch off the sterio and take off the head for it the amp still stays on???? what do you suggest i do?????

do you rekon thois is happening becuase of my sterio being live all the time???

That is possibly the cause. If you have the instructions you will be able to wire the stereo in so it is on the ignition. I would recommend this. The AMP should not be powered on all the time for obvious reasons.

If you are ever unsure get a stereo shop to do it. After all if it all goes wrong you would be gutted.

Christ! Pay someone then lol.  :undecided:

The yellow one is the one you need to wire in to cut out on ignition. Hope this helps.

you dont want to be using the TWO blue outputs on the HU just one! or the red/yellow whichever is the switch on one if all else fails. and i had straght live feed and amp remote will go off when power swiched to off(stand by) not actually cut off so this will not cause your problem, remote wire definately cause.
