Title: Mk3 sound system

Can anyone tell me if the factory 1.4 golf from 1996 onwards is supposed to have any rear speakers? I bought mine off an old lady and when i fitted my CD player i went to put the sound towards the back speakers and it went quiet, took the speaker pods off to find out i have no speakers and i couldnt find anywires therefore leading to the conclusion someone's either taken the speakers and the wire out or they never came with it.

If you check the stereo speaker plug, if it has 8 wires then the rear speaker wires are back there somewhere, if it has only 4 then they arnt there and rear speakers were never fitted!

where would the stero speaker plug be located?

its one of the two 8 pin plugs you connected to your stereo :)
