I'm on the verge of buying a brand spanking new import.
I hear that you can extend the warranty for an additional year after the manufacturer's 2 year warranty runs out. Anyone know anything about this?

Should be able to buy this from any VW dealer, as long as the car has been serviced on time (longlife or time/distance) and the warranty is taken out prior to the end of the 2 years. You should register your car with VW, so they can record it on their UK database. You might still find some prejudice against imports but the legislation is now in your favour.

Also try warranty direct. They seem reasonably priced and cover a wide range of parts provided car is serviced by VW or recognised independant. I have just bought an import and will look at extension with WD at the end of 2nd year. Also I will probably sign up for Autoaid breakdown recovery as this was not part of import package.

Thanks for the response guys
I'm negotiating with the company at the moment - trying to squeeze the price a bit more
