Title: vw rental
Post by: monkeyalan on 13 November 2006, 13:09
I'm in the process of planning a 4 week driving holiday down the west coast of the US and want to do it in a VW , preferably a Golf (Rabbit).
Does anyone know of anywhere that it can be guaranteed thats what I'll get and not some rattley piece of American built cac.

ta

If you book through the Avis or Hertz US websites you can pick exactly what car you want. I don't remember seeing a Golf on there though. Avis does have some 'premium' models only available at some locations and you can get various Audi's. When you go through the stuff on-line there is an extra option to tick somewhere that then displays all possible car models rather then just the 'normal' stuff - you DO NOT want a Cadillac de ville!!

you've been then?

we plan to fly to Seattle then drive down as far as we can leaving a few days to chill and sort flights home from the nearest airport  . I think we're gonna detour inland to las vegas and the grand canyon aswell.

we we're gonna rent an RV but I don't fancy it TBH. I reckon there will be plenty of motels and we'll just buy some camping gear when we get there just in case.

My elder daughter has done it on a coach tour, but they went the other way Las Vegas, Palm Springs. L.A. then up Coast Highway to San Fransisco.
