most people get soggy boots in their mk2's, well over the past week its been raining like f**k and i've ended up with a swimming pool in my boot!!
so over the weekend i set about finding the leaks, and here's what i found!
1. Rear lenses, common problem! easily solved, take them off put a film of grease on the foam backing plate, put back on and tighten! or put a line of silicone round it.
2. the little plinth cover for the boot lock, water streams in the back of this and collects in the bootlid itself causing it to rot from the inside out! take it off and put a line of silicone down behind it (above the fixing screw holes)
3. the little rubber grommit where the wiring for the rear demister comes out of the roof. noticed mine was rusty and there was a slight hole also, this allows water to stream down the inside of the C-pillar and into the corner behind the bulb holder. unless u can get it professionally repaired, a good dob of grease round the grommit will keep water out.
hopefully that should sort the leaks, although it hasnt rained since the weekend

I had a soggy drivers side carpet this week >:(
I really need to get some new door membranes on there.
full blast heaters on 'feet mode' dried them out.

B&Q plastic cement/sand/mortar bags cut down one side work perfectly. and they're free!

I used a damp course plastic sheet that the builder left behind. Matched the colour of my car too.
Duck tape starts to peel off after a while so i used an industrial roll of what looked like blue tack. Worked well
