I have a slight thud from drivers side front when I set off at a normal pace, if I set off slow it doesn't do it, it also does it less if I'm on a hill, and doesn't do it when the steering wheel is on more than a quarter turn lock either way. I know I have a knacked engine mount (rear drivers side), does this sound like the cause of the knock? I thought it would be, but am confused as to why it doesn't make the sound when the steering is on lock, could it be strut top bushes?
cheers

Yeh sounds like a worn top strut bush but dude you can damage more sh!t if you don't replace that engine mount aswell don't forget those engines are not light!!

My mechanic had a look last night and seems to think it's the mount. It's booked in for a new one next thursday, so get to use my old mans mk2 GTI for a couple of days, which should be a good laugh, as I'm driving mine like an old man due to the wasted engine mount!
