Title: working on the car in the rain
Post by: modulater on 11 January 2004, 17:42
Having just come in from working on the car because its raining yet again I was just wondering who has to brave the elements and who has the pleasure of a garage.

I unfortunately have to reinact the perfect storm.

I give up on doing stuff in the rain. I keep my mk2 in a garage near my mum's (cos when it rains, it leaks :()

Bought a new back box for it, still need a caliper though.....and my mate gilb said he would help me fit it :)

Everyone I know who has a garage never uses it for working on the car, just a place to put old prams and pushbikes.

I think they stopped making them in the early eighties....my first bike was an orange Halfords bmx!!!

I have a garage but the lighting sucks and their isn't a door. lol. more like a carport I suppose. If it was my house I would put a door on and install flouresent lighting and probably add a radiator but I don't want to put all the money into someone elses home.  :)

I have my mk1 in my aunts garage and my house mate has a unit where I do most of my work but I cant leave any car there for long so its only for jobs that take a couple of days max. Great to get out of the rain though. I will be taking my mk1 engine there soon to strip it down on his engine bench. I also have a chopper but its one of the small ones, are they worth much?

we've got a lovely double garage that you going easy open both doors with the car in there if there wasn't a trailer and a load of bikes... the list goes on. I was working on the car in the rain the other day. just running in and out and remembering to close the car door!

Skyway mags. hadn't thought of those in years. I had a skyway BMX as a kid. I traded it for a hutch trickstar and then traded that for a mongoose. never was much orf a skate boarder but was into BMX. :)

I used to have great BMX when I was about 14 - think it was called a Scorpion Breakdancer - used to have twin cross bars, twin back brakes - one on the seat stays, and one on the chain stays, Mag wheels, and other trick bits. Havent a clue what happened to it - but reckon it would still turn heads today
