Title: MK3 8V gti mising slghtly-HELP!

hi
 ive ot an 8v mk3 and it seems to be slightly msing...not like really loud misfiring but if u just let it idle u can hear it loose a very very slight amount of ower, and the rev meter goes down slightly as well bout half a centimetre and then goes back up again, sometimes the car is fine note usually when cold but then suddenly will start being really slugish and acceleration is bad and u can then feel jerkin ever so slightly and a like mising noice that gets louder, now ive cleaned out the throttle body and idler valve, so joy. im having belt done on it nxt week and having relays for fuel pump and ecu changed nxt week . could anybody recomend any thing or sumbody in huddersfield or very clsoe by who i could take to for them to hav a look at. thankyou

Get the distributor cap, rotor arm and ht leads changed.
Will make a world of difference to your car.

veedub8gti-re: im having th etiming belt done this weekend lke i said, shall i just tell them to do  the timing aswell (do i need to go to vw to get it timed as im having the belt done by a non vw garage)please help.oh and also today for about one minute the engine ran perfectly and then when i geared down to go around corner it came back!!!

If the timing belt is being changed then they will time the engine, i hope!  :o

hi again
today the car was fine ..but then suddenly it started mising again.........it then went away after a while ....and now its come back......could this info help anyone to help me cure my prob

i reckon it could be a distributor cap/ht lead/rotor arm/ ignition problem get the garage to look it over when they change the cam belt. they will have to do the timing cos it can get all screwed up when you remove the belt

on another car it was doing the same when i was accelerating off. it was finally narrowed down to being the sensor on the down pipe (electrical). cost me pennies to change.
