Title: central locking query
Post by: D16vGti on 06 November 2006, 09:56
Hi all,

My drivers door actuator isn't linked to the door lock mechanism on the drivers side. The guy that came and fitted my alarm left me with a metal rod and a metal clamp of some sort, and advised me just to fit it. However, after investigating further this doesn't seem as easy as it should.  :undecided:

I think I need a plastic bit which connects to the metal that comes out the back of the lock and links both the rod from the door pin and the actuator. Am I right in thinking this or am I just missing something?

If I do need something extra what do I need and where can I get it from? as I'm at a loss and its annoying me having all the other doors lock on the alarm except the drivers side.

Thank you for all and any help or info.

Dan

It depends if you have factory central locking or not. if you do you should have a blue pump in the door, and all you do is hook the actuator he gave you to the rod sticking out of it with the metal clampy thing.  If it wont reach, use a metal coathanger ;)

If you don't have factory central locking, if you look at the rod from the door pin you should see it connects to a white plastic tab sticking out of the lock block.  Usually there is a spare hole in it which you can feed the lock rod in, again if you cant get it to reach use a metal coathanger :)

It doesn't have the door pin rod or the plastic bit, I think its that plastic bit I need.

Any idea where I can get one from, or a part number?

Part ordered 38p!

Thought I'd order a weighted shift rod whilst I was there, you know how it is!
