Hi guys, i have just bought a mark 3 golf gti 2.0 8v and this is the first VW i have owned. Feel the performance could be abit better so was hoping someone could help me with some good and not so expensive ways to improve it. Also i am looking to fill in the gap of the central console at the bottom with something. Thanks for any advise as it is most welcome.

not alot you can do really unless you spend mega money, get a k&n or similar or a decent panel filter for ure original air box, make sure everything is good,ie plugs, leads etc. more costly, get a full stainless exhaust, maybe a de-cat,didnt know til recently my old gti was de-catted and went really well,if you can weld u could do that ureself  just make sure theres plent of cold air getting thru ure air filter or induction kit, maybe a shield u could cut out of 5mm steel sheet and make sure u stop hot air getting in.decent suspension will make the car alot safer thru the bends, other than them idea's :undecided: not much else unless u go the way of a superchip and re-map,but then things will get a bit costly! go with the suspensio 1st even if its just springs for now! hope this helps

Cheers will look into that. The prevoius owner had put a twin exhaust on it and is pretty loud but it isn`t the full system so doubt it improves performance? Do you know if it is possible on golfs to adjust the peddle height as mine goes up pretty high and is quite an annoyance to be honest. Cheers again
