Title: Driver's door lock broken

Hi,

I can't open the driver door using the door handle - it opens however from inside. I think it's just a case of the door handle becoming detached but cant work out how to get the handle out to reattach it (I think i've done this already about 4 years ago!). I've undone the bold directly in line with the mechanism on the door's edge but this seemed to do nothing!

Please help!

what car mate?

if its a mk2 then there is another screw under the handle cover

If it's a Mk3 then after undoing the screw (it's a torx one IIRC) which I think you're referring to should let you slide the whole handle forward (towards the front of the car), and then fiddle around and it should come out fairly easily. There's a vertical bar that goes down to the latch mechanism which should sit in a slot in the handle.  If that's come out, or the 'slot' has broken then I guess you'd have this problem.

It is a little fiddly though.   :undecided:
