Well we are going to spec Xenon's on our new GTi, and I'm just wondering as I've never seen a Golf with them switched on in real life, if they are a Deep Blue Hue or more white coloured?

Blue white hue and much brighter than ordinary lights, self leveling as well. You also get a standard lamp for flashing the headlights as the Xenons have a split second delay in igniting and would obviously blind oncoming drivers. Well worth it IMHO.

We did something like this a while ago!

I'm tempted to go the Xenon route, but at the same time struggling to believe they're £725 better than halogen.....
-
Matey, the xenons are worth EVERY penny! they are awesome
-
I think I need to drive the Golf at night, first without then with Xenons. I've never had them before but I've never found halogens to be poor. Maybe it's another 'never had it won't miss it' type thing. I'd really like to see how much better they are though.

Chalk and cheese...

Slightly more apt would be, "Night and day."

Your so right!
-
I had them on my last car but don't on the Golf. Most of my driving at night is in London or on motorways so don't miss them. They do look cooler though  but that would just be an embarrassing reason for chosing them!
-
Wish had the on my car.
-
Tonight I shall be test driving an R32, but purely to get an idea on the Xenon lights to see once and for all if they light up the world....
-
Do the Xenon lights on the golf have the dynamic thingy whereby they move side to side with the steering like on the Eos?
-
Sorry no
They do wobble up and down though!
Pm em and I'll mail you a video!

Right then, I have just added Xenons to my car based largely on the words of Matt555 and the Doc.
They are lots of extra cash but a big factor behind them was that if people see me more, then hopefully they will drive around me not into me. Especially as the number of numpties on the road seems to be growing out of control.
If they turn out to be toss, I'll be out to get you guys......

You will love 'em - Especially on MAIN BEAM

i stuck them on my car based on the pics from the forum, now i'll never have a car without them (bit like my heated leather seats)

xenons are well worth the 725 extra. i love it when i go 2 asda this tme of year. press the remote to unlock when your 20 yards away and boom there on. also go up then down to find there leavel when the car is starts then turn lights on. well worth it

They make the car look so much more modern with "real" lights
i'm trying to retro fit factory xenons to my caddy and mini as we speak!
-
i've got xenons on my MK4 and they i think they are more white that the ones on the MK5, i quite often see a MK5 GT TDI 4 motion on the way home who also has xenon's and his look more blue, although he may have changed the bulbs for a different temperature.
i think they are well worth the money, as you get a uniform light pattern, not just 'spots' of light, plus the colour is easier on the eye.
