Title: Badge removal
Post by: iwbus on 01 November 2006, 16:58
I've had several cars in the past and have (unsuccessfully) tried to remove the badges, each time leaving black sticky stuff where the badge used to be. Any tips on how I can remove the Golf GTI badge from the rear of my car in a nice way that doesn't make it look like the badge just fell off?!

Thinners on a rag mate, gets sticky stuff off

yeah, white spirit , a terry cloth t- towel and hard work.
make sure you use a couple of layers of cloth between your fingers and the metalwork tho' or you'll get a massive blister in no time.

in the past i've used a hairdryer to heat up the area first and then peel off the badge... for any sticky residue just use Thinners or T Cut and some elbow grease.  Don't give in the temptation to scrape with an abbrasive tool as you'll scratch the paint off
