Title: heated window washers - and what is this connector
Post by: Ben Lessani on 31 October 2006, 14:43

look at the circled bit, its a white connector with 2 prongs and has a green wire coming off it, i cant find any info in the haynes, the other end of the connector is on it, but the two wires dont connect to anything (just snipped off)

and my heated washed jets dont have anything connected to them, the wires are just loose, so where does this plug into.....any chance it plugs into my mystery connector?

The green connector is used to measure resistance and is not connected to anything, used for setting up the K-Jet head It is mentioned in the Heynes manual but not identified if memory serves.

I've just done my washer jets and you can wire then direct fot the supply via ign switch or as I've done piggybacking off the rear heated screen switch

I wired my jets direct to the coil, to the ignition live terminal, there is one not used, but if not, just piggyback. I earthed it to the ignition coil bolts, where it bolts to the scuttle bit. All the wires can then run under the rain cover, and look neat enough!

The jets should be on with the ignition, the reason they are heated is to stop them freezing up when you drive down the motorway :)

i'll rig them up to the coil then, should be easy enough, except the fact its pitch black outside.

Don't expect em to work though, they're usually shafted

MK3s and Passats have the same jets though, so you might have more luck findin working ones off one o them :)

If you feel handy, check my fusebox FAQ, it shows the factory location for the heated jets on the back of the fusebox
