The car is going. I'm f*cking sick to the back teeth of it. I really don't think I'll miss it. Its costing a fortune now. Its just one thing after another. Just been to pick it up from the garage (after having the gearbox out to fix the speedo drive) spent £310 which wasn't bad I thought (they did loads of other bits and bobs too) and on the way home I was apparently doing 60mph all the way, even when stopping at junctions! The mileage is now working but the needle moves so slowly I dont know what speed I'm doing! The fuse box was full of water (even though I had the bulkhead sealed and painted) and they cant figure out where water is getting in. Need a new offside sill and apparently there is a split in it. I'm at the stage now where I'm not "thinking" about getting rid of it, I F*CKING CANT WAIT to get rid of it. And the sooner the better.

what are u after??
-
well i admire the fact u gave it till this long but as you say u have got to know when to quit. Hopefully ur next car will give u no problems at all! Just dont let this put you off getting another mark 1 in the future, at least now you know what to check when u go to look at one.
-
Sorry to hear then Gem, but Neaty's right - when the come downs out weight the good times, it's time to quit.
Here, buy a nice Nova or something
Hope you feel better soon.

Exactly. I will be extremely upset to see her go but only because I didn't get to drive her as much as I wanted to drive her.   I will be pleased to see the back of all the hassle and problems. Not to mention money. I just wish I hadn't spent to much money on the seats. I bloody love those seats! Whoever buys the car has to sign an agreement to keep those seats in the car!   If not I'm keeping them for my next mk1 a few years down the line!
Looking out for mk4's now. Any advice appreciated.

try and get hold of a set of seats that u can swap over might aswell keep hold of those seats, or sell them seperately. Could get quite a bit for them.

what are u after??
If you're interested in buying see my project section in the Dub projects and check out the pics in my gallery. Make me an offer. I can send more pics and arrange a viewing if you are interested.

-
engine has had a full rebuild and now drives beautifully
