Title: Amp leads
Post by: J.stafford16v on 26 October 2006, 22:02
Hi can anyone tell me whats the differance between a wiring kit for a 300watt amp and the one for a 600watt one? Is it just the main power cable and fuse that is different.

Hm, are they the autoleads ones we sell at work?
If they are, then yes, the powercable and the fuse is different - everything else is pretty much the same.
If I'm honest though, I'd use a 4 guage wiring kit for anything 400w or above.

Jon the kit in the car at the moment is a Q-Dos competition pro set with 8mm power, 8mm earth, 30amp fuse and 1.5mm speaker cable. And its halfords supplied kit.

Ah, so it was you that bought it! I'd had my eye on that for a while. Swine!
I was thinking about the poo autoleads branded stuff we have. What amp are you looking at powering?

Cripes, Dangermouse!
I'd definately run a 4 guage for that tbh. Yes, the Q-Dos one you have will do it, but I'd try and get the larger one or alternatively the Fusion kit is pretty good quality.
However, come mither me at work on Monday - I'm definately in this time - and I'll try and dig out the larger power cable we (did) have out the back... it's the power cables that make the difference to the power.
I'll look for it Monday morning and txt you if I can find it, if you'd like?
