Title: which grille? 5 or 7 slat?

Hi, just picked up a 1987 8v today. The car is great, interior is near mint. Tornado red so ideally needs a paint. However, it has a 5 slat grille with the early square style gti badge, should it be a 5 slat or 7 slat grille? Cheers.

Yes Jason, this car is a real find. Great interior, taxed, one or two mechanical problems but nothing major. Needs a respray.

Are you sure you don't want a full piper zorst system for it? It makes a great noise and the one I've got was only used for about six months and is cheap!!! £50

Can anyone please tell me which grille my 1987 8v should have, 5 slat or 7 slat. It is a pre '88 model.

I think it should have 7 then...mine is a pre-88 and has seven slats....

Yep Mix is right, if it's a pre-88 and has the triangular quarter-light windows on the front doors then it should have a 7 slat grille
