Post by: boneybradley on 24 October 2006, 19:38
Dosen't that road go down to 40 near the bend at smith and nephew??? (Heading into Hull)
I only know cause I worked at allders in Hull a few years back and i was allway's late to work and once got stopped just past there doing 63 in what was descibed as a 40 limit and was only given a tickin off!!

Are you sure you were driving the car at that point? Cause if not then I would ask the police if they could produce evidence of whom were driving your car as you were not, and surely they would be unable to proceed with the case if they could prove you were driving at that point. It is there responsiblity to prove your guilt and not yours to prove your innocence!!! Good luck what ever you do, I got caught whilst driving the works mini-bus, with a drivers log, no get out with one of those!!!

If the police cant prove you were driving from the photo then they can request that you supply the details of the driver and if you refuse thats an offense under section 172 of the road traffic act (failing to provide the details of the driver) and in most cases (not all ) means any penalty ends up being given to the registered keeper.

Post by: [han] on 24 October 2006, 22:02
it was on that bend i got caught there was a van,

registered keeper is me! damn...

i was definitely driving the car, i was goin form a 60 into a 40, i wass lost and lookin for signs and must have missed the 40mph sign, as i saw the 2nd one after van and was slowing thinking i was entering the 40.. obviously not! i remember it happening! damn gettin lost.. mum says its a sat nav for crimbo with road angel or something!

Unlucky. Is it your first offence? I don't think it goes up much these days for just 3 points... as most people have them.
Looks like that cab could be longer away now though...

.. mum says its a sat nav for crimbo with road angel or something!

It wouldn't help you with a mobile camara anyway and you'd have still been caught. It may have told you the speed limit was 40 though and save you looking for a sign so you may have slowed down. Also, if there were roadworks there and it was down to 40 but the road is normally a 60 then there's a good chance that the sat nav will still think it's 60 as it will not know about the roadworks.

I got the same in July in Wales, didn't know the area, got caught doing 36 in a 30, though I was slowing from the 40 limit zone to a 30 zone. I blame my parents, I was following them at the time

3 points and 60 quid fine.

Just got caught by Transport for London in a yellow box. Wrote to them to try and get out of it cos I entered the box thinking that the cars in front were going to move forward enough to let me get out of the box, but didn't. They replied saying that my car was stationary (only the back of the car from the rear wheels back) for 8 seconds!!!!!
Paid up, £50, but no points cos it wasn't the police.

busted for 6mph over in a 40 ? thats a bit harsh.. what ever happened to 10% +2 .. suppose you could've been doing 46.1 or something and they were being an arse.

I was in the outside lane of M1 southbound, BMW up my arse and I was already doing 90-100mph so me being me thought to myself "I'm not letting this @rse past, if 100 aint quick enough for him un-mucking-lucky!"... then few miles later blue lights appear in grill.. un-marked copper!

I could have probably fought against it as <in my opinion> he was illegallly speeding himself since with no lights on there was obviously no emergency.. wayne kerr.. but in the end I just paid the fine and took the points.  Average of 92ish over nearly 4 miles with a top speed of 112mph

Well I have beaten the system on my last two speeding tickets!
(and I used two different ways!)

So if you lot wanna pay the fine and accept the points and the insurance hike then fine go ahead.

If you on the other hand want to know how to beat them - then come ask me!   :smug:

Len I'd be interested to hear how you got away with speeding twice and using two different methods as I was told by a crown prosecutor that there is only one legal way of getting away with speeding and all other attempts can land you in deep sh!t if your found out

I couldn't possibly shop such a nice bloke and a fellow forum member  and if someone's worked out how to beat the system good luck to them ! In my experience when people come and represent themselves they normally get ripped a new ass by the prosecutor and end up wishing they had taken the 3 points and the fine
