Check there's no dodgy wires touching somewhere on the fusebox that it shouldn't be. This maybe really obvious, but are you using the correct fuse ? i.e. is it a 5 when it should be a 15 ?

Does this site help at all ? http://dana.ucc.nau.edu/~kaw5/electrical.htm

Sounds like the fusebox has got wet  y.  Did it start doing it when the rain started?  - do a search in the mk1 section as this subject has been covered loads as its very common with mk1's unfortunatly, along with cr@p brakes - but a small price to pay to drive the greatest car ever built  :smug:

Ideally you need to find the leak(s) and stop them or the rest of the electrics will soon follow suit

In the meantime you have 2 options:-

1:  bypass the relay on the relay plate with a wire between 2 terminals  :embarassed: I forget which but someone else here will no doubt know

2:  not reccomended but it works , run a switched live feed to the yellow/red wire thats behind the fusebox (theres 3 wires going into a terminal, one is from the fuse box, replace that one.  You need to make sure you turn it off when the car is off as the fuel will pump continuously
