Title: Finding engine code

I have a seat 2.0 8v I want to fit in my golf but I can not find the engine number/code, the upper cam cover is missing, I have looked on the block by number 2 and 3 plugs and there is no number there?
any ideas how I can ident this engine  ecu part number is  037 906 024 ap  seat and vw wont help.

what year car is it from?
If it has a crank position sensor its the later block, if not its the 2e I believe :)

its from a 94? seat corobda  was told it was 2e  but ecu says siemens on it   engine has a isv on it so asume its digifant
