Jay, I saw a low mileage one for sale in Harrogate for £6995 a few months ago, but it wasn't as low mileage as that. With 38,500 miles on the clock, it needs to be bought. If it's been in a barn since 1989 though, how comes it's got Porsche Cup wheels (I think) on ? Also, I don't get it, if it's been in a barn since 1989 it's either not been made yet or it would have been brand spanking new. :undecided: Or am I just being stoooopid !

Ok let me clear a few things up it was owned by some women who left it in a barn in Germany, It had runied the paint from what I could see in pics, Then a specialist who deal's in Audi Q's bought it for
penny's.. I can see some filler on arches which he shows, but no bigger than a hands worth here and there. The german description has said completey standard except porsche cups and big brake conversion done by there shop. Dyno showed 190BHP standard and sorry guys meant to say registered first in 1989 then in barn after four years or so then found in 1993 I think then painstakenly restored to former glory! These guys own a pro work shop so nothing has been spared being specialists, but down side its not cheap if you said 8K Marty was on the money Plus shipping, hotels, exchnage rates, Trailer hire, documents cover and DVLA costs closer to 8.7K But it's one of the registered original ones ever made out of 5,000 units.
I want it big time Gibby, but negotiating on price.
There is a picture of the engine.
I'll put it up, you tell me pro job or what?
Neaty wife has a new car I want a new car

Wowser, it's a lot of money for one, but if you can afford it then go for it, my concerns would be that with such low mileage would you really want to drive it ? :undecided: So what would be the point in having one if you don't want to drive it. I'm not sure I'd believe the dyno though as they were 160bhp as standard so 190 is a big increase without any work being done. My other concern is that I've heard before that with the Rallye running gear etc then it's not advisable to run wheels that need adaptors so I'm guessing that those cups have got adaptors to make them fit. :undecided:

Looking at what I've said, they're not really problems are they, so I say if you can budge on the price, you can afford it and really want it then go for it. :afro:

This is completely incorrect. 190 dyno - it would have had some money spent on the engine to acheive that. For mine to acheive that I have had -

Stage 4 Charger
Uprated Chip and Pulley
Exhaust system
Induction Kit
etc etc

This has all cost around £1300 there abouts.

OK story is that he sold it to local boys this week and couldn't wait for me to come over in november!
Better news found one RHD with 19,000 miles on the clock completely standard this time one owner from new! The only problem it's Red I mean really red and he is asking a mortgage for it if he comes down in price I'll take it but there is a big price he is asking from what I can afford...
Gibby guys I'm back on the market for one!
Gutted big time!

There's nowt wrong with a red Rallye Jay ! I'm telling you now, you'll love the fact it's so red when you get used to it, trust me. Your problem there for me is that it's RHD not that it's red so it's been converted. What they asking for it (if you don't mind me asking) and is it a UK spec SE ?

Jay - the one you refer to is not RHD - It's just one of the UK spec ones like mine. It's a mental amount of money though, I'd sell you mine for a lot less!!!

There are two mistresses I 've looked at whilst a kid one was a little black number called Rallye the other was a red number called Intergrale Evo
More than £12,000 Why RHD a problem gibby?

Jay - the one you refer to is not RHD - It's just one of the UK spec ones like mine. It's a mental amount of money though, I'd sell you mine for a lot less!!!

Ok I'm confused I thought 5,000 was LHD but 62 was made for UK spec sold to dealerships across the country between 1990-91?

So brake lines and servos are streched a bit further to compensate Right?

To be honest I view her on sunday morning but what he is asking I don't have guys?
He has all parts even spare original pullys and cams apparently its producing 210BHP not dyno'ed but the place where he did the work back in 1991 said it would produce 210.
I getting tired looking for an orignal untouched Holly Grail?
Hell I've been offered a G60 for less than £2,000 with 200,000km on the clock it would cost me about £2,000 just to dump a new engine?
Help

Jay - all Rallye's were LHD, any that aren't have been converted.

The 60ish figure is the indeed the number of LHD Rallye SE models sold via uk dealers.

If you are looking for an untouched Rallye why then look at this red one that has been modified and costs a fortune?

You could still get a tidy Rallye for 4-5k ish and spend a few more k on making it exactly how you want.

:)

Jay, I've now seen the advert and I remember it being for sale in the Golf+ (I think) last year (it's a recognisable number plate) and it was up for around 10k, so it either got sold and someone wants to make a quick profit (fair enough) or the guy that was selling it last year may have upped the price. Yes it's low, low, low mileage, but that's top, top, top dollars.

I think they are being extremely optimistic with a figure of 210 as well.

jv has already squared up the questions about RHD/LHD.

My advice ? If you're looking for your holy grail then this isn't it because you don't like the fact that it's red, but if you think you can see past that (red is the new black  ) and are prepared to take out a small mortgage for it then do it, you may not get another chance. I personally think it's too much, it does look mint but you could get something else and do it up yourself a lot cheaper. Another thing, low mileage is cool, but sometimes it can be worse than having too many miles because it's just sat there doing nothing and the parts can just seize or be brittle etc etc. :undecided:

I would always be a bit wary of driving a really low mileage car of that age like it should be driven for the reasons gibby mentioned. Like for example that Mark 2 8 valve that was on ebay earlier this year that had 27k on the clock. Fair enough you want to have a nice tidy rallye, but you want to be able to enjoy it too. No Point in just parking it on the drive way and looking at it.

Those numbers sound about right for a decent one LHD or RHD it doesn't make a difference to me as long there is a history and a very tidy body work.
Jv if there is a tidy one about can you look out for one for us mate?

I'm not saying red isn't a nice colour on some cars its great, but I've see the car only in met black or met dark blue? Go figure guess its down to choice. Hell I own a Orange family SUV can't get worse than that mate :lipsrsealed:
Your right my Clipper always had that problem after 20 years what car doesn't if not collecting dust!
It's not the same excitement I get when I look at the lines or see the car.
10K would be the most I would pay for it your bang on the money I think its the same owner who has put a highier price becuase he told me the won some trophies @ expo?

It's hard with family neaty I've done my fair share of inters and ED38 and others I enjoy the classic feel of a car rather than the old 1/4 miles chestnut. I'm getting old bro and looking these days seems to keep me happy!
Oh yeah wife always said look, but don't touch!

LOL yeah what a beauty!  But like I've said to RJ I didn't have £13,000 and I don't have £11,000 either!

Guys one question I've got log book faxed over it not easily readable, but they will send me one through the post.
But what numbers does the engine code start with, is it H? Can someone post a pic of where it is so I can check it out once I'm there?
The brokers are confused as well as they said there are too many numbers and don't know which one it is?

Cheers!

Jay, when do you need to know by because my Rallye's at a garage at the moment having work done to it, jv is not about and toph is on holiday, so the only other Rallye owner on here is Martz. I can check my log book for you, but I wouldn't be able to tell you anything on here until Friday as I'm not at home tonight. I'm not even sure where the engine code is on the car either.
