rubbish gears i think. pretty sure its 4 speed plus an 'economy' gear.......

Yeah stands for 4 standard gears plus an economy gear. I've had two 4+E gearboxes and they are by far the best gearboxes i've had in a Golf. The gearbox in my 16v is sh!t and nothing but trouble and the 4 speed gearboxes i had were also cr@p  :laugh:
