Title: funny noise

hi guys and gals i just purchased a mk4 gti turbo its a 1.8 version 150 bhp,and i love driving it.I was parked up today and had my enigne running whilst chattin to my freind in the car and i herd a noise which came and suddenly went after every 5 mins or so it comes and goes, sounds abit  like gears crunching,everythign else seems to be fine and drives beautifully shud i be worried ???

p.s the noise also makes the lights dim a little

the only thing which comes to mind is the radiator fan check this it may be worn!!!! see it spins ok be careful touching it as they can work without the ignition being on!!!!!! other than this it could be anything!!!!!!

if the fans ok run your engine the same and open the bonnet and check where its comming from.......

i recon its something to do with the fan ;)

Sounds about right with me .

The best way to ensure that you have the ends of your fingers left is to check the fan before you have started the engine at all. Better safe than sorry .

But i would definatly just check where the noise comes from when the engine is running by listening with the bonnet open .

If you want to check the rad fan then why not just unplug it before spinning it?

it says ''funny noise'' does the noise make you laugh? ;D ;D ;D

all the words in the lauguage and if we hears noises coming from our cars why do we always call the either weird or funny!!!!

the only funny noise ive heard was when i use to blow rasberry noises at school!!  ;D ;D once the headteacher saw me doing it and thats what he called them........ ;D ;D ;D ;D
