Hi,
I've just finished swoping the gearbox and PAS Pipe on my car. After I fitted the gearbox I started the enigne and ran the car to check the gearbox was OK.
I've now completed the PAS pipe and now the car will not start it turns over but does not fire.
The fuel gauge looked empty so I've just put a gallon of fuel in the car but it's still not having it.
I've checked and there does not appear to be a spark at the plugs. I've removed the plug lead and rested the lead with a spark plug fitted on the cylinder head but there does not appear to be a spark.
I've just fitted another ignitor and coil but it still does not spark. !!!! Any thoughts. ???
The car does have a cat one alarm fitted but that all appears OK and disarms correctly.
Does anyone know how to test the dizzy ?

if you take a plug out of the block and hold it on the block it should spark when you turn the car over. don't hold it with bare hands or metal tho'. ZAP!

check the -ve earth lead from the battery, make sure its hooked up to the gearbox. Even if it is, remove all the battery/starter/alt wires and give the contact points a damn good clean till they're shiny and refit.
Also if you turn the key 1 click, do you hear the fuel pump prime for a second or so, or does it run continuously?

Hi,
I've tried the spark plug and there's NO spark at the plug.
I'll check the contacts at the weekend thanks.
The fuel pump primes for about 1 - 2 seconds when I turn the ignition on and then goes quiet.
Thanks,
Mark

HI everyone,
Just wanted to update the thread to let you know I've fixed the car
It turns out it was the crank sensor. Brought one of ebay brand and and it starts a treat. Cheap on ebay aswell compared to the £151 inc vat that VW wanted
Cheers,
Mark
