Post by: spacecowboy on 17 October 2006, 20:06
Ok well I have £3000 - £4000 to spend, so what do I buy???? Do I get an older VR6 or do I get a more upto date 1.8t????  Either way I will be looking to do a few mods. Can you tell me what you think..

it depends what you want bro and what you are using it for! will it be your daily driver? if you get a vr you should have some change for some wheels and maybe a slam job!  :undecided:

a £4k 1.8t will be a bit ropey for that cheap i'd say... keep your eyes peeled and buy the best you can find!

Buy a Mk2, and a boot full of smack!!

3k will get you a decent average mileage VR, if not a decent 1.8t'd Mk2!

Find a MK2 with knackered engine for peanuts, then take it to Andy at PSI tuning he'll then put an Audi S3 1.8T engine and with alittle bit of tuning you will have 280BHP at your foot!!!!! YEEEEEEEAH

I like the sound of this man. How much does he charge for the 1.8T conversion then?

When I asked him, he said the engine would be no more than £2000 and the basic conversion is £2000. Go to his garage and have a look, its worth a visit just for a tune up if nothing else.
