abit info about the mini 1972 old school
Engine: Honda civic VTI 1.6 16v 160 BHP as standard
Revs: @9000 rpm
vtec: starts working @5500 rpm
Max speed: 105-110 mph
wheels: 13"
weight 900 kg (i think)
The VR6 is standard apart from 17" wheels... and lowered 40mm...
so mini VTEC or VR6 :undecided:
-
got to be the mini surely?! power to weight etc, a golf vr6 is 174bhp as standard but they weigh f**k loads!
-
id say so too, scary as fook avin all that in a mini! sounds like fun!!! :smug: power to weight, that mini would be dusting type-r civics etc etc...........
-
mini surely although the golf qould be the safer option, let me have a go in that mini anyday!
-
have read about some of these mini's some where... there spose to go like sh@t off a shovel..... so id say it would do a standard vr6 ...
i also was lookin at a mini on ebay some time last year when i was settee ridden for 3 months, and you can buy then with suzuki hayabusa engines in the back making them rwd  now that id like to have a go in......

saw one of them at trax 2001 was mental went in circles more than straight lines tho lol

i guess the vr needs to go on a diet and more power.
the mini actually belongs to a friend of mine, and i thought the power to weight would be the main factor in this topic. but at lest i have top end speed over the mini, its a sham i cant go over 70mph
-
I reckon the mini would tear strips off the VR6 until you get above 100mph (not that any body on here ever drives that quick on the public highway ), then the six cylinders would show their power!
-
Power to Weight is where its at for me.. and who drives at over 100mph on a regular basis
any way my dad is building mini with an 8V 1600 astra engine with 13inch wheels metro turbo brakes ect.
power wise looking at 90ish which dont sound a great deal, but the thing is soo low to the deck and going to have sooo much grip on the 13x7 inch rims it going to be sooo much fun to drive.
He has decided to do a Vtec next but they are MUCH more expensive a whole engine/car ect for the transplant cost more than this current one is costing i reckon

Power weight as above. Mini for me. I take it this is the Yamaha R1 engine that is being used as the power unit. Awesome conversion.

1300cc suzuki Haybusa engines are popular add a turbo or supercharger and a few more things and a large sack of cash and you are looking at a min of 350bhp.
Performance bikes did a project with holeshot racing and got a busa up to 600bhp (i think) to go after the UK road legal land speed record... 240-258 i think they were hitting with
the owner of of Holeshot (jack frost) on board.
the Z cars are very cool as sublte as a kick in the pods and not really an every day car BUT would be sooo much fun
-
Minis only weigh about 650kg don't they? I could be wrong, but the power to weight ratio of that car with just 160bhp would be insane.
-
holeshot/z-cars/hudderfield minis spares built one with a 400bhp turbo busa engine in , now imagin the faces of some very very very expensive cats as that little mini hunted them down spitting flames and revving to 15000rpm  i want one so bad
