Afternoon guys, ive just bought some s3 alloys for my mk3 and they have got 225 tyres on. Am I going tyo have to chnage them to 205's ??
Dave
Oh and my car is on standard suspension at the moment!!

I wanted 225's on mine but was told that 215 was the max unless you want to use spacers.
If you decide to go for spacers and you would only need 5mm each side then make sure you get the correct drilled ones not these multi use ones as they can cause imbalance.
-
well the wheels need 2 tyres anyway. but didnt want to buy 4 unless i had 2 as I wanted a stainless. but looks like ill have to invest in 4 tyres
-
Set of spacers would be cheaper than 2 tyres!
-
What I mite do is try the 225s on with spacers before i buy any tyres at all then
-
Just had a thought!
What size are these wheels/tyres? If they are 17's then you will have a problem with rolling radius, it will be bigger and give false speedo readings!
-
they are the 17" s3 alloys (6 spokes!) Ithey have 225/40/17's on at the mo ( i think the 40 mabey 45 profile!!)
If I have top ill buy 4 new tyres! As in the not to distant future ill be dropping it down 30-40mm

you'll need 205/40/17's or at best you're speedo will be well out and at worst they plain won't fit.
If you're gonna drop it they deffo won't fit ,so i'd save meself the trouble and put the right tyres on.

Looks like ill be ordering som,e tyres today. As I want the wheels onm by sat
-
Cant find any 225/40's myself as I have been looking! So they must be 225/45's which are too big!
Try - www.mytyres.com - they have a very wide choice and are cheap!
