I've done them at Castle Combe in my MK1 Mini Cooper, very good fun, but I was totally uninsured.  I'm pretty sure there are VW ones.

Maybe we could do a GolfGTI.co.uk track day?

It's an expensive day out, probably use a set of tyres and brake pads, plus i think one day insurance is'nt cheap. But it would be worth it

I've not done one in the GTI but spent a day at Donnington in my old S2000 when it had 5k on it and sold it with 14k on and the tyres and pads were still only 50% worn so I don't reckon it would be too bad. Could just be that I'm a slow driver though!

V interested in track day or even santa pod to get accurate 1/4 mile with launch control!
